TRTCC Upcoming Practices, January 7 – 11, 2026

Dear Dharma Friends,

Wishing you all a Happy New Year! This week we are back to our regular practice schedule. Wednesday evening practice is Green Tara. Saturday the 10th is Basic Buddhism practice. Sunday the 11th is Vajrasattva practice.

Save the dates: On Saturday, January 24 & 31, and Sunday, January 25 & February 1, 2026,  Ven. Khenpho Choephel is returning to Pittsburgh to offer teachings on the Realization Songs of Jigten Sumgon Ratna Shri. Please see our Events page for more details and the registration link!

Our yearly Sangha meeting has been rescheduled for Sunday, January 18th. The meeting will follow after the regular 10am Sunday morning practice. During this meeting, we’ll discuss the 2025 year in review as well as the center’s plans for 2026. The meeting will be followed by a potluck lunch. Please bring a dish of your favorite vegetarian food to share.

May the illumination of wisdom teachings shine through all obscurations of our mind, and may our practices be beneficial to all beings!

 

Wednesday, January 7, 7pm. Green Tara practice. Online and in person. Green Tara, the meditation deity in female form, embodies the wisdom energies of compassionate fearlessness. This yidam practice helps us remove fears and obstacles, and cultivates the connection to her feminine energy of compassion and wisdom through visualization and chanting.  Join us on Zoom.

 

Saturday, January 10, 10am. Basic Buddhism practice. Online and in person.  This practice opens with lineage invocations and shamatha meditation, with instruction, followed by discussion of different topics in Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and practice. Newcomers may find this short introduction to Tibetan Buddhism helpful. Join us on Zoom.

Sunday, January 11, 10 am. Vajrasattva practice. Online and in person. This is a foundational and ongoing training to purify our negative actions, mental disturbances, harmful tendencies and mistaken views by invoking the yidam Vajrasattva in a meditative visualization practice. Lama Kalsang will lead. Join us on Zoom.


Please be advised: Masks remain optional for our in person practices at the center but we encourage you to please act with caution . We do ask that only fully vaccinated people come in to the center. We will be running the air purifier in the common area. If you are not feeling well or have had a recent exposure to COVID, please ensure that you are negative with a home test before coming in or please join us online.
