TRTCC Upcoming Practices, November 15 – 19

Dear Dharma Friends,

This week we are on a regular schedule. Wednesday evening yidam practice is Chenrezig. Thursday evening is Tea Break, and Saturday morning is Vajrasattva practice. This Sunday our practice will include Achi Chokyi Drolma practice and 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva.

This year our Annual Sangha Meeting will be held on Sunday, December 10th. We will be having a pot luck lunch this year – more details to follow!

Please note: the CDC has listed our community transmission level as low, and masks are optional for our in person practices at the center. We do ask that only fully vaccinated people come in to the center. We will be running the air purifier in the common area. If you are not feeling well or have had a recent exposure to Covid, please ensure that you are negative with a home test before coming in or join us online.

Wednesday, November 15, 7pm. Chenrezig Practice. Online and in person. Chenrezig is the embodiment of universal compassion. This yidam practice focuses on the cultivation of compassionate qualities and activities in all of us.  Join us on Zoom.

Tuesday, November 7, 7pm, Introduction to Practice. Online only. This class introduces the general structure of practice and the meaning of the invocations that begin every practice at the center. It also offers basic instruction in shamatha meditation. It would be helpful to read this short introduction to Tibetan Buddhism before class. Join us on Zoom.

Wednesday, November 8, 7pm. Medicine Buddha Practice. Online and in person. This practice is for the benefit of those who are ill or in need of healing, purification, and general success. Join us on Zoom.

He is often depicted as wielding a flaming sword in the right hand which cuts through ignorance, attachment, and delusion, and holding in the left hand a lotus flower containing the Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra, the Sutra of the Perfection of (Transcendent) Wisdom.    Join us on Zoom.

Thursday, November 2, 7pm, Vajrasattva Study Group. Online only. This class aims to deepen familiarity with Vajrasattva practice by opening it to study and contemplation. Join us on Zoom.

Chenrezig is revered as the bodhisattva who looks upon all sentient beings with the eye of compassion.  The six-syllable mantra Om Mani Padme Hum symbolizes the altruistic intention of the great bodhisattva to become enlightened in order to liberate all beings from the mire of suffering.   Join us on Zoom.

Chenrezig Sand Mandala, Oct. 2nd – Oct. 6th

Dear Dharma Friends,

We are happy to share with you that Lama Kalsang will be traveling to Florida to help create a Chenrezig Sand Mandala with Konchog Ngedon at Pasco-Hernando State College for their annual Peace Week, October 2nd – October 6th. The event will occur at Pasco Hernando State College’s Spring Hill Campus and online. Online viewers can ask questions and follow the mandala creation live.

Additionally, Khenpo Yeshi will attend on Monday, October 2nd from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to give a public talk on “The Meaning of Mandala.”

The event is sponsored by the student government of PHSC and is free and open to the public. Sangha members are encouraged to attend any portion of the event, but the public talk (Monday, October 2nd) and the Dissolution Ceremony (Friday, October 6th) are especially auspicious to attend.
